stolen from childfree:
read this shit
okay, you're a pharmacist your job is to give people drugs. your job is not to shove your moral agenda on others. you're not being paid to "take a stand against abortion" you're being paid to fill prescriptions. this is like a racist obgyn refusing care on a woman carrying a biracial child. that would never fly, why is this?
you know, if you guys take away my birthcontrol, and take away my access to a legal abortion, it's not going to keep me from having sex. it's not going to make me mysteriously want babies. it's going to make me quite handy with the alternative uses for a coat hanger. i don't see why you people think that ignoring sex, and not teaching kids about it and taking away all options of family planning, is going to make all this awful, sinful premarital sex go away, but it's not.
what? will you outlaw condoms next on the basis that it's abortion because it's not giving the sperm a chance? would you rather have us poke holes in them to "let god decide" like catholics used to?
i'm a firm pro-lifer but i don't think it's right to stop someone from taking precautions. precautions which would prevent the need for an abortion in the first place. it's always the woman whose evil for having the abortion, what about the guy who got her knocked up in the first place and doesn't handle his responsibility?
it's seriously refreshing to see someone that's pro life and sensible.
i see abortion as more merciful than birthing a child into a household that doesn't want it and will just fuck it up. and a lot better for society, because then we have one less fucked up person to deal with. but i don't necessarily see it as the best way. i think more time should be spent educating people on the use of birth control, and i think people should be able to be sterlized if they damn well please. that would drastically cut down on abortions.
where sometimes i feel like if a guy knocks a girl up he should take responsibility, there are sometimes i don't, because sometimes girls will "oops" a guy that they know doesn't want kids and that's just fucked up. but if the pregnancy occured out of pure stupidity, then yes, the guy should step up and take responsibility.
but no, if you ignore it, it'll just go away.
...and i have written a mini novel.
Also, the double standard is still there.. if a woman gets pregnant and wants to keep the kid, the father has to pay for it. If the father wants to keep the kid (and, let's just assume that the mother-to-be has no health problems that might make pregnancy dangerous) he's pretty much being delusional. I think that's unfair.
I agree with you about educating people. Honestly, so many of the problems of today could be completely avoided if people were properly educated. Ah well. =p
Holy Shitmas the conservatives never stop stunning me. At least I know its something that will take a while to kick in out here in California. Too many touchy-feely hippies and ball-busting feminists.
And Neo-Prodigy, I have to agree with Fuzzer. I may not agree with your belief, but I respect you for being a sensible, thinking person.
"There was an incident where a pharmacist who worked in a retail drug store refused on conscience to fill a prescription and that individual was terminated from employment," Mr Gielow says.
Excellent. That's how it should work. If the drug company has ordered a recall of all the drugs, because they have shitty side-effects and kill people, fine, refuse.
Once again I'm having scary thoughts regarding your uterus.
