i've been to all my classes now. this quarter is going to be so... lax... it's hard to adjust to since i spend so long running around like a headless chicken.

they've made the two shittiest mac labs (with the old style g4s) into brand new imac labs. they're pretty sexy. they make the g5 lab look so dirty and old, although i'm sure that's mostly the fault of the disrespectful fuckers at my school drawing on the towers and otherwise abusing them.

this is kinda random, but does anyone know of anything interesting that happened in 1905? i'm supposed to pick something that happened then and design a font around it. if you have any suggestions, throw them at me. i'll give you a copy of the font i make if i choose your suggestion (and if you want it, of course).

In my opinion, the two biggest events of 1905:

Einstein publishes the theory of special relativity

and

Las Vegas is founded

So you have the speed of light or lots of big flashy lights

einstein was not the first to introduce the theory of special relativity, his real contribution in 1905 was in having unified important parts of classical mechanics and electrodynamics.

i think an einstein inspired font would be really fun (i could make the O have funny hair!) but he mentioned the einstein thing(s) in class, so i don't want to look like a lazy ass and use that.

las vegas on the other hand, could lend itself nicely to some funky atomic era font stylings and might be fun.

This might help...
Sunday, bloody Sunday...
Las Vegas founded
Ayn Rand born (ooh, do something with that!!)
And on March 11th, 1905:
Stanley Cup: Ottawa Silver 7 beat Rat Portage Thisles, 2 games to 1 I don't know if you can do anything with it, but I figured it was a good date...

The Ayn Rand font would be easy... you'd only need the letter A. (She loved saying "A is A")

if i used the russian revolution, i would want to go russian constructivist with it, and i don't know how practical it would be. thus far, the russian revolution is tied with las vegas as far as suggestions from my friends goes.

in 1905California Mount Wilson Observatory was established for study of the Sun.

the russian revolution would be a good one, you could do something about the russian orthodox priest who lead the workers association on the march

lol that's great! that's such an odd thing, and wouldn't be done by most of my class like the big things would.

i sense a poll coming on.
