i've had an account with you for almost 4 years now. The week I turned 18 i got an account with you. i've used you faithfully ever since (with a very very brief affair with wachovia, which ended in heartache and broken dreams). I've been making the same deposits from the same bank, same account into the same account every three months for about 3 years now.
sometimes i have these checks cashed, sometimes i have them deposited and they clear overnight. please, tell me why i got a hold on this check until the 21st when i deposited it thursday? and please, explain to me why 3 different customer service people gave me 3 different time frames and told me to contact the bank manager, that he could straighten it all out. and please tell me why i couldn't walk in and talk to the bank manager, why i had to talk to his assistant. why on earth does someone who doesn't know the difference between 45 minutes and 3.5 hours work with money?
and tell me, dear suntrust, why i had to call another customer service rep crying to finally get ahold of said bank manager, only to hear form him that he can't do a god damned thing about the hold?
i fucking hate you, and i hope that everyone reads this and quits using your stupid shitty bank. i hope your children starve when you can't get another job because you are the most unhelpful fuckers on the face of the earth, you pathetic pieces of shit.
i hope you die sucking a leper's asshole,
Minus the cussing at the end, you should type this up and send it to them, or better yet, hand it to the branch manager when s/he asks you why you're withdrawing all of your money, closing your account, and planning instead to do business with one of their competitors.
I had an issue like this in 2001 with Wells Fargo in Arizona.
They held a check - they LOVED to hold checks - and told me it would be a week due to the amount. I asked what I could do to help shorten the process and was told to get a bunch of information from the people issuing the check.
At one point I was on the phone with the CSR from the bank and the person from the insurance company and the bank said they knew the money was there, but "due to the large amount", it was held. Even though they had it verified, THEY called the insurance company (to make sure it wasn't a friend or something pretending, I dunno) and I got all the info I could get.
And then they held it for another 8 days.
I'm with them now, but they have improved for the most part. I'm really careful though, because they love to put in every withdrawal and clear a deposit later (even if it was deposited prior to 4p on the business day before) in order to attempt to overdraft me. It worked once, then I had the boy call and we got the fees reversed. We had the receipt and everything from the bank.
I was going to switch at one point but they reversed those fees... and then they opened up a branch really nearby.
My work doesn't do direct deposit so that's not an issue but Keenan's does... and I'm lazy. But they have one more chance, and if they piss me off again, I'm switching to Hibernia cause they will give me money for my unused checkbooks.
Banks apparently have a special sixth sense that allows them to know when someone needs their money the most so they can screw around like this. I had stuff like this happen all the time when I was a struggling student. Maybe it's based on how often your account gets near zero.
Don't know if this will help any but it's worth reading since the bank employees apparently don't know what the law says about the maximum time they can take to clear your check: http://www.bankrate.com/brm/news/chk/20020802b.asp
Sorry to hear about Spak. I know many people don't understand that losing a pet that isn't a dog or cat still hurts.
may i suggest bank of america?
i have an account with suntrust and with bank of america, and i use bank of america more because they are lovely. also, if you get overdraft protection IT'S LIKE $10 INSTEAD OF THE $32 THAT SUNTRUST CHARGES YOU.
I HATE YOU SUNTRUST YOU FILTHY PIECES OF SHIT.
i know that feeling......
i've been with my bank for about three years now and i always took my checks to get cashed when i got them in the mail. then last month i got my check in the mail and brought it up to one of the tellers. she happened to have been new, and also just happened to have finished her training session...
she tells me that she can't cash my paycheck because its post dated for two days later. and i'm looking at her like what the hell and told her i've gone in there on the 10th before with a check dated the 15th. anyway i wound up talking to one of the regular tellers that i talk to and she was acting like a go between trying to get her super on the line to see if she can cash the check or not.
i was just like wtf. they finally did cash it but told me that they wouldn't be able to cash it like that anymore. and that was just like wtf... this month i went through the drive thru instead of going in, and noone noticed the date was for three days later.....yay!!!!
*note: the money is there to withdrawl, that's why we are able to get them early. they just date for the days that are acutally our paydays....
